"We saw a camp, we were followed, no Hijabs, no beards, mosques closed, secret rooms..."

In this week’s episode of Kashgar Times, we sit down with Sinan Çoban, a 30-year-old traveler of Turkish descent living in Germany, whose Instagram has become a powerful visual archive of his journeys across the Islamic world.

For years, Sinan has explored the Muslim world, sharing their beauty through his lens. But in this episode, we focus on his experience in Chinese-occupied East Turkistan. Sinan reflects on what he saw on the ground, the signs of repression that go unspoken, and the silence of most travel vloggers who visit the region.

We also extend an open invitation to travel vloggers and content creators: whether or not your stories are for publication, we welcome you to write in. Your firsthand accounts, anonymous or not, help us push back against the flood of CCP propaganda. Authentic information is scarce, and your insights matter.
