21-Year-Old Uyghur Faces Immediate Deportation from Germany to China
"I would like to stay in Germany. I have a life here".
German authorities have sparked international outrage after launching the immediate deportation of ‘Arafat Adil’ (legally identified in documents as Alifa Adili), a 21-year-old Uyghur youth, to Beijing. At approximately 6:00 am local time today, police arrived at an immigration detention camp in Kandern, instructing Arafat to gather his belongings for a “move”. A camp worker later informed one of Arafat’s peers that he was being taken to Frankfurt Airport for a flight to the Chinese capital.
Arafat was able to make a brief, desperate phone call to his uncle, Muhtar Mamatjan, from the airport, confirming that he was being forcibly returned to the country where his people face an ongoing genocide.
According to a source with knowledge of his case says Arafat is set to be on a 7:10 pm flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Beijing on Air China flight CA958.
Turkish Citizenship
According to his mother, Guzelay Adil, the family has now informed German authorities of Arafat Adil’s Turkish citizenship, which the entire family gained after moving to Turkiye in July 2017. His family argues that because of this citizenship, there is no legal justification for his forced return to China, where he faces an extreme risk of arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, and torture.
In her plea for mercy, Guzelay and the rest of the family have requested that, if he cannot remain in Germany, he should at the very least be deported to Turkiye. This would allow him to reunite with his immediate family members, who currently reside there, and ensure his safety from the ongoing genocide targeting the Uyghur population in East Turkistan.
Case Overview and Asylum Discontinuation
Official documents reviewed by Kashgar Times, from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), dated October 28, 2025, confirm that the asylum procedure for Adil (File No. 10825854-479) was officially discontinued. Adil, identified in the files as a Chinese national of Uyghur descent and Muslim faith born on January 17, 2005, originally entered Germany on April 22, 2025, and applied for asylum on April 29, 2025.
The primary reason cited for the termination of the case was Adil’s failure to appear for a personal hearing scheduled for September 2, 2025. The authorities stated that a summons was successfully delivered via post on August 20, 2025, and because no excuse was provided for the absence, the law presumed a lack of interest in pursuing the asylum claim. Consequently, the authorities determined that no deportation bans under German residence law were applicable.
The legal notice issued to Adil at his residence in Kandern (Schwimmbadweg 6) stipulated the following:
Voluntary Departure: Adil was ordered to leave Germany within one week of the decision.
Forcible Deportation: If he failed to leave voluntarily, he faced deportation to the People’s Republic of China or any other state he was permitted to enter.
Re-entry Ban: An entry and residence ban was ordered for a period of 30 months (two and a half years), beginning on the day of his deportation.
“I would like to stay in Germany. I have a life here”.
A significant document in the file is a handwritten declaration by Adil dated February 11, 2026. In response to an inquiry about his willingness to leave, he checked the box stating, “I am not ready to leave voluntarily”. He provided the following reason in German: “I would like to stay in Germany. I have a life here”.
The file also includes extensive information regarding the Hardship Commission (Härtefallkommission) of the Ministry of Justice and Migration in Baden-Württemberg. This independent body has the authority to request a residence permit for foreigners who are technically required to leave the country but have urgent humanitarian or personal reasons to stay.
Adil was informed of his right to file a legal challenge (Klage) against this decision with the Administrative Court (Verwaltungsgericht) in Karlsruhe within two weeks of receiving the notice. The documents emphasize that while an appeal can be made, it does not automatically stop the deportation process unless a specific request for “suspensive effect” is granted by the court.
From Turkiye, Arafat’s mother, ‘Guzelay Adil’, released a harrowing video plea translated by Kashgar Times. “My son left for Germany one year ago... they say he is being sent to Beijing,” she cried. “Please don’t let them deport my son to China, everyone please help me”.
A Troubling Pattern of Broken Commitments
This incident is not an isolated event but part of a disturbing trend of Germany violating its own reported commitments to protect Uyghurs from the ongoing genocide in East Turkistan.
Just months ago, on November 3, 2025, the German government deported Rizwangul Bekri (Reziwanguli Baikeli), a 56-year-old Uyghur woman, despite her pending asylum status. Similar to Arafat’s case, Rizwangul’s legal proceedings were marked by sudden disruptions; her scheduled court hearing in Stade was abruptly cancelled just days before it was to take place. Her lawyer was assured a new date would be set, yet she was instead lured to a local government office and deported within days.
Furthermore, Germany’s history with Uyghur deportations includes a high-profile “administrative error” in 2018, when a 22-year-old Uyghur man was accidentally sent to Beijing. His lawyer has not heard from him since, and his fate remains unknown. Following that 2018 tragedy, Germany had reportedly committed to halting all deportations of Uyghurs to China, citing the crimes against humanity and genocide occurring in the region.
The family of Arafat Adil is now urgently appealing to German authorities, international media, and human rights organizations to intervene before the flight departs. They argue that sending a 21-year-old back to a state-sponsored system of mass incarceration is a death sentence.
